Breaking down barriers: a manifesto for working families
Since the 2019 General Election, the UK has faced significant challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic and a severe cost-of-living crisis, which have disproportionally affected lower-income families with caring responsibilities.
Although recent legislation such as the Neonatal Care (Leave & Pay) Act and the Carer’s Leave Act have made some progress, the absence of a comprehensive Employment Bill means critical issues like access to justice and adequate parental leave pay remain unresolved.
The next government has a pivotal opportunity to address these gaps by enforcing a holistic approach to employment laws, focusing on meaningful support for working families and overcoming persistent barriers for those with caring responsibilities in the workplace.
We believe that the policy recommendations in this manifesto offer a practical course of action that will make significant and meaningful change.
We’ve put together a template letter for you to send via email to your local candidates in the upcoming General Election which outlines five areas that we think the next Government need to take action on.
