Families and Work Group
Working Families is delighted to chair the Families and Work Group. The group is made up of an informal coalition of charities, unions, think tanks and campaign groups with a collective interest in securing policy changes that reduce the barriers parents and carers face when accessing and progressing in work.
Since it was reconvened in mid-2021, the Families and Work Group has secured several policy changes, including group members successfully working to see benefits uplifted in line with inflation, collaborating with MPs on Private Members’ Bills that expand rights for working parents and carers, and meeting with senior stakeholders such as Rt Hon Caroline Nokes MP, who chairs the Women and Equalities Committee.
The Families and Work Group also acts as a focal point for policy development, focusing primarily on future manifesto principles and policies for the next general election, as well as cocreated research (including working with members of our Academic Advisory Board). The group also coordinates campaigns to amplify the voices of working parents and carers in policy and research circles.
For any enquiries about the group please contact Kyle Green, Parliamentary and Stakeholder Engagement Manager, via: kyle.green@workingfamilies.org.uk
