Proposed motion for local councils – supporting flexible working
Working Families has been delighted to work with Yasmin Qureshi MP to deliver the Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Act 2023 which aims to improve access to flexible working by making the ‘right to request’ flexible working a ‘day one’ employment right.
Our proposed council motion calls for councils to support inclusive employment opportunities by considering possibilities for flexible working when designing job roles, and by including flexible working options in job adverts. The motion also calls on councils to use their influence to encourage local employers to advertise jobs with flexible working opportunities wherever possible.
If you would like to discuss this motion and the benefits of this approach for employers and employees we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact our Parliamentary and Stakeholder Engagement Manager Kyle Green: kyle.green@workingfamilies.org.uk
