Long-time advocate for women leaders joins Working Families
Published: 28 Oct 2024
A champion of gender equality has become Patron of Working Families, the national charity for working parents and carers. Denise Wilson OBE has been widely praised for her work in helping women succeed in business and working to remove the barriers stopping women entering the boardroom.
Having headed up the Government sponsored task force the FTSE Women Leaders Review for over a decade, responsible for increasing the number of women on FTSE 350 Boards and in senior leadership, she is uniquely qualified to support the work of the charity, which aims to see all parents and carers being able to participate in, and progress at work.
Her work to remove barriers that prevent gender parity have earned widespread recognition, and in 2016 she was awarded an OBE for services to women and equality, and in 2018 she received an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from the University of Hull.
Despite her many successes, Denise acknowledges there is still some way to go:
While there is still much to do in advancing women’s representation, I have witnessed the incredible progress that can be achieved when people unite with a common purpose. The work Working Families is doing to break down the barriers facing parents and carers has the potential to open doors for women to reach the highest levels of leadership. This is more than just a win for women – it benefits all of us. I’m excited to be part of this important journey and look forward to contributing in my role as Patron at Working Families.
