Parents and carers: help us #flextheUK.
Take our survey to let us know how you've balanced work and care during COVID-19, and your hopes for what work will look like in a post-COVID future. Your responses will be used to support our work with the government and employers to make flexible working the norm.
A donation from you could make a real difference in helping Working Families to make the UK a better place to live and work.
Your donations will support our:
- Free legal advice service: for 2,500-3,000 parents and carers a year – to help those who are struggling with the demands of work, family and children, including parents on a low income and those with disabled children.
- Work with employers: who want to make our vision of family friendly workplaces a reality.
- Ground-breaking research: to support our campaigns for change.
How you can help us make a difference
Jane felt pressured by her employer to work when she was unwell during pregnancy. She felt so alone yet knew she was being treated unfairly. Speaking to us made her feel more confident of her rights … and she noticed that her employer backed down after seeing she had sought advice from our Legal Advice Service
Another mother helped by our Legal Advice Service said:
“I was having problems organising flexible working after maternity leave. You gave me excellent, practical advice; I felt empowered. I was able to negotiate a work pattern whereby I can work, afford childcare and still enjoy my baby during the week. Without your advice I wouldn’t be in this position”.
Recent landmark changes to the law that we instigated include Shared Parental Leave, so you can share the caring with your partner. We also won the universal ‘Right to Request Flexible Working’, supported by our Happy to Talk Flexible Working strapline that can be used by companies when they recruit staff – an initiative that is endorsed by the CBI, TUC and other trade organisations.
