The search is on for Scotland’s top employers
Published: 23 Oct 2015
Now in its second year, the Scottish Top Employers for Working Families Awards are organised by Family Friendly Working Scotland – a partnership of Working Families, Fathers Network Scotland, Parenting Across Scotland and the Scottish Government. Family Friendly Working Scotland is supported and funded by The Scottish Government.
The awards recognise forward thinking organisations that support their people to achieve a good work life balance by putting family friendly and flexible working into practice. Family friendly working is not only good for employee wellbeing but also increases productivity and performance, improves morale and motivation as well as enhancing staff retention and recruitment.
Minister for Children and Young People Aileen Campbell said:
“I want to encourage as many big and small organisations from the public, private and third sectors who are already making the effort to support family friendly and flexible working to enter these awards so their good practice can be recognised.
“We know juggling work and family commitments can be difficult and we want more organisations to embrace flexible working arrangements. It benefits both employers and employees as it can boost productivity and performance, improve morale and wellbeing, as well as enhancing staff retention and recruitment. The reputational benefits of being known for family friendly and flexible working practices are also increasingly important in being an ‘employer of choice’.”
Winners of Scottish Top Employer for Working Families Awards 2015 included Centrica, Scottish Water, Badenoch and Clark and West Dunbartonshire Council.
The awards and free to enter and employers can enter up to six award categories highlighting how they have developed and supported flexible and family friendly working. A panel of expert judges will make the final decision after entries close on 27th November 2015.
The Scottish Top Employers for Working Families Award categories are:
- Best Large Public Sector Employer
- Best Large Private Employer
- Best Small Employer
- Fathers Network Scotland Award for Best for all Stages of Fatherhood
- Parenting Across Scotland Award for Best for Childcare
- Carers Scotland Award for Best for Carers and Eldercare
Sarah Jackson OBE, Chief Executive of Working Families and Chair or the judging panel said:
“We are delighted to once again encourage entries for the Scottish Top Employers for Working Families Awards. This is an opportunity for forward thinking organisations to share their stories about their family friendly and flexible working policies and practices. We know there is some really good work taking place in workplaces across Scotland and our judging panel look forward to identifying Scotland’s most family friendly employers.”
