E.ON continues to prioritise family friendly working and is now a proud member of the Working Families charity
Published: 12 Nov 2024
E.ON is joining Working Families as part of its ongoing commitment to creating a family friendly, high-performing culture that puts people at its core. E.ON believes that policies designed to offer flexibility for parents and carers must address the needs of office, field and home working employees and that developing and maintaining this balance will help create a resilient and inclusive working model.
For over 40 years, Working Families has been equipping employers with the tools they need to implement ways of working that prioritise wellbeing and support inclusion. As well as offering practical advice — such as reviewing and developing policies, and ways to achieve diversity and inclusion (D&I) objectives — E.ON will have access to valuable resources and roundtables. It will also use the Working Families benchmark tool to measure how the organisation stacks up in terms of family friendly working.
Helen Bradbury, Chief People Officer at E.ON UK, said:
At E.ON, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s most inclusive employers. We’re dedicated to supporting the wellbeing of our colleagues, and we recognise that embedding a culture which supports all parents and carers so they can thrive at work is essential. We’ve taken many steps over the years to support our colleagues when starting and raising a family, whatever their circumstances might be.
We’re excited to be joining Working Families as part of our ongoing commitment to being an inclusive and family friendly employer and ensuring that our policies and practices reflect the diverse needs of our workforce.
E.ON has implemented a range of policies to support the needs of working families such as offering colleagues equal parent leave, regardless of gender and including kinship carers, providing all parents with the opportunity to spend time with and support their new and growing families. Some 200 new dads having already taken up this benefit since it was introduced in 2023.
E.ON had also introduced four weeks of paid neo-natal leave and two weeks of paid leave for pregnancy loss for both partners and has refined its adoption leave to provide clearer guidance and support for colleagues. Other family friendly benefits include carers’ passports to support colleagues with caring responsibilities and ensure reasonable adjustments are made, as well as offering unlimited paid fertility leave for both partners.
E.ON’s fertility-focused policies also include a training package for managers and a guide to fertility journeys including a support plan. A colleague support plan is unique to each individual and could include agreed adjustments to roles and responsibilities, access to medication and flexible working arrangements.
Flexible working is central to how E.ON works, with over 50% of its colleagues having some form of flexible working pattern in place1, such as flexible start times and compressed hours, and 87% of E.ON colleagues happy with their flexible ways of working2. E.ON’s flexible working principles also extend to hybrid working as part of its enduring commitment to flexibility.
