A New Chapter: Working Families in Scotland
Published: 14 Apr 2020
A message from Jane van Zyl, Chief Executive of Working Families
We’d like to give an update on the future of Family Friendly Working Scotland (FFWS).
Six years ago, Working Families established FFWS to create and support working culture change in Scotland. We are very proud of what we’ve achieved in the last six years—particularly our work with employers to build flexible and family-friendly workplaces.
Over the last two years, Working Families has had a period of significant growth and change. In light of this, and in an effort to join up our initiatives across the UK, our Board of Trustees has taken the decision to move our work in Scotland under the Working Families name and organisational structure. Our work will be unified under a single brand—Working Families—and a singular purpose: to change the world of work for the better.
While the FFWS name will no longer exist—and while we will no longer have a physical office in Glasgow—Working Families’ commitment to building flexible and family-friendly workplaces in Scotland hasn’t changed. We will continue to support employers in Scotland through membership, training and coaching, and a host of resources for employers of all sizes, using our 40 years of experience to help you build resilient and flexible working cultures. Working parents and carers in Scotland can still use our award-winning free legal advice helpline. And we will continue to conduct groundbreaking research like our Modern Families Index, offering valuable insights into how parents in Scotland and across the UK are balancing work with their caring responsibilities.
We’re excited about what the future holds for our work in Scotland and we look forward to working with you in this new chapter. We’d like to keep in touch with you, so please take a moment to sign up for updates from Working Families.
