Roundtable event: Caring across generations – How can employers create a cross-generational culture of support to parents and carers?
3rd June 2025 | 11am to 12pm

Many employers are grappling with meeting the needs of a diverse workforce that could include parents, sandwich carers, grandparents, and kinship carers, each with their own set of skills, responsibilities, hopes and expectations. The biggest challenge for employers is how to manage this diversity and create a culture where everyone feels supported to be their best at work and be there for their families.
Working Families works with some of the most progressive employers in the UK, with 58% of our Top Employers 2024 Benchmark thinking outside the box to extend their provisions and policies beyond their statutory obligations to make them more inclusive.
Many are adopting a multi-generational approach to supporting parents and carers: 69% of our Top Employers 2024 Benchmark offering leave to Grandparents, 97% offering short-term flexible working and 69% offering adjustment leave for anyone experiencing a family challenge.
To mark Intergenerational Day, our Relationship Manager Diana Gilmore is chairing this roundtable which will explore how employers can offer a cross-generational culture of support. We are delighted to welcome Phoenix Group, winners of our 2023 and 2024 Best for Carers and Eldercare Best Practice Award to share some of the great work that they are doing to support the diverse range of parents and carers across their organisation. We are also thrilled to have Kinship Care, our new Advocacy Partner, to inform us about these valuable carers and how organisations can help them.
As always, please come to the session fuelled with questions and a willingness to join in the conversation!
This event is for Working Families employer members only.
Spaces are limited to two per member organisation.
