Learning from Lockdown: Virtual Roundtable for UK Employers

20 May 2020 | 2pm to 3pm

How are UK employers ensuring that homeworking becomes a sustainable & healthy way of working, once the COVID-19 crisis has passed?

Many employers and employees across the UK have been catapulted into homeworking by the lockdown and have had to get to grips with unfamiliar technology and different ways of working and communicating, both with each other and with their customers. Many are discovering for the first time the advantages of this way of working, and will expect to be able to continue to do so in the future (without having children around!), for at least part of their working week. Equally there will be many who have struggled with working from home and can’t wait to get back to being fulltime in their workplace.

Employers in the UK, and globally, will need to review their policies, guidelines, communication strategies and leadership style/capabilities to ensure that homeworking can be done sustainably, ensuring a win:win for both employee and employer. Practical issues such as objective setting, proper job design, management guidance, supporting good mental health and measures to tackle 24/7 working, are just some of the issues employers have flagged up, and which we’ll cover at this meeting.

In order to tackle some of these issues, we will reflect on what has and hasn’t worked for UK employers/employees over the last few months, sharing the learning and thus equipping us to meet the challenge of the coming year.

Please note: to enable an interactive discussion, numbers will be limited. We kindly ask that only one person per organisation attends.

In order to accommodate everyone who wants to attend, we are also offering this session on 21 May, 11am – 12pm
