6th March 2020 | 9.30am to 10.30am | Linklaters LLP | One Silk Street | London | EC2Y 8HQ

Keep up-to-date with family friendly rights: what’s coming in 2020
This course flags up cases and other developments that you need to know about, what the main changes are and what you need to look out for. Working Families trainers will focus on:
• New statutory rights coming into force
Parental bereavement leave and pay, the new statutory right to two week’s leave, expected to take effect in April 2020. What is it? Who is eligible? When should it be taken? Can it be taken in separate blocks?
Transparency of family friendly policies from 6 April 2020 rights to leave should be included in written statements of terms. Will this apply to workers as well as employees? Is this a day one right? What rights to include?
Extending redundancy protection for new parents: start and end point, notifications, consequences.
• Caselaw to look out for:
Ali/Hextall on shared parental pay: will the Supreme Court reshape the interplay between sex discrimination and parental rights? How far does/should the special treatment for mothers go?
• What’s in the pipeline – new Government proposals
Neonatal leave and pay, Right to request a more predictable contract, A week’s leave for unpaid carers’, and Flexible working as default as set out in the Conservative Party’s manifesto. What do these mean? What would these new rights look like?
