Finding Flexibility: parents of disabled children and paid work

Working Families’ survey of over a thousand families reveals a worrying pattern of unemployment and under-employment, with many parents being forced to decline promotion, accept lower skilled work, reduce hours of work or opt out of the labour market altogether in order to care for their disabled children. This report sets out our findings in detail, considers these findings in the context of other evidence and highlights measures that could be taken by government, employers and service providers in order to remove barriers to paid work for parents and carers of disabled children.
